-A LONG EVOLUTION TO MEET AGAIN THE STARTING POINT-

I started painting spontaneously, with no masters, with no one to look at, as I played marbles, or with toy cars or picture cards: I just liked it.
For a long time I didn’t follow any one, painting my life, my things, my dear ones; those were years of painting just to be master of the form.
My painting was always natural, personal, the subjects were: olive trees, sunny Apulian landscapes and again dear ones; trees were always protagonist. Trees on the shore, olive trees with twisted and silvery branches, light green almond trees with hard branches, black cypresses beyond the cemetery wall, cluster pines at the station and also chestnuts, red larches, rose-coloured from the sun caress.
Then, inevitable, arrived the pictorial falling in love: being more skilful, and less spontaneous, it was easier to take possession of beautiful things, following already found solutions.
So the way seems to be easier, but instead it tangles up more and more; these are years of research, through already walked along ways with no outlets.
The technique increases and the ability too, but with them, the dismay also goes on: who am I, why do I paint, what do I want to tell but myself and my emotions?
And if I do not tell it with my own language, the one that identifyes me, what do I make it for?
So I stop, I check into myself again and I find: dismay, light flashings and pitch dark, a glimmer of light, an insourmontable wall and a “dejà vu” that comes up from the bottom of the memory.
Little by little I recall my beginning, my naivety and my mental neatness, I go back to what I love and suggests me poems
And I started again painting, I love trees, I have always loved them: how many times I climbed up those old laurels of St. Albino hill that made me black and brought me with their long twisted branches in the deep and far forest, the one of dreams and secrets!
Trees speak to me and recite poems, thanks to them I know where I am and why.
As Charles Darwin wrote:”… trees are the main beauty of every landscape”: I agree with this sentence, I embrace it with all my strenghts and I begin to feel at ease.
The atmospheres are the one I love, the technique is the new and the old together, but always "my" personal technique.
The evolution to go back to the starting point has begun.
